Bangkok Diaries Day 3

Mom and I decided to tour around the city as for our day 3. Theme parks, zoo and museum visit are on top of our list.Woke up not so early to prepare for another adventure in Bangkok. Since most Thai's can't speak English, we had a hard time asking for directions, bus number and some information that might be helpful as we tour around Bangkok. And so Day 3 is exciting as it seems to be.

From Ratcha Damnoen Nok road bus station, we rode bus#47 that will pass in Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery. Bus fare costs 6.50 baht. We first went to Siam Discovery where Madame Tussauds can be found. I forgot the price but they have packages like Madame Tussauds + Ocean world + 3D movie but it depends on the package that you will be getting. Madame Tussauds is a wax museum where you can see celebrities made of wax but I tell you it looks like real, very deceiving. In Hongkong, there's also a wax museum but I forgot the name. Going back, so we decided to check Ocean world first before deciding what package to get. Ocean world entrance fee is 900 baht and it is located at Siam Paragon which is beside Siam Discovery. There's a shuttle available for transfer from Siam Discovery to Siam Paragon which is for free.

After exploring Ocean world and Madame Tussauds, we went to Platinum Fashion mall, which is considered as the largest wholesale fashion mall in Bangkok, I don't know if it's true but that's what one of the Thai's told me. It's like much improve St. Francis square in Manila.  From Siam Paragon, we rode a taxi to Platinum mall (pronounced as Platinam). Paid 50 baht which is very reasonable. The mall closes around 6 or 7pm.

As a confessed shopaholic, 7pm shopping hours is way too early for me. So we headed out to Indra Plaza and Pratunam (pronounced as Patunam) which is walking distance from Platinum mall. We roam around the area up until 11PM and since we are not familiar with the place, we decided to take a cab back to Siam Paragon since there's a bus on the other side of Siam Paragon that will pass by to Chakrapong road. We were told we need to look out bus#15 (non A/C). Fare costs 13 baht from the other side of Siam Paragon to Chakrapong road. Got home safe and sound.

Bangkok Diaries Day 2

Day 1 isn't bad at all, though we got lost because the hostel where we stayed is kinda far from the city itself. But it's in the heart of the backpacker's street, which is within Khaosan road. Our day 1 was spent exploring the nearby area, it was very crowded and the night is young. There are beers, booze, money changer and foreigners all around. Looking forward for Day 2

Day 2 - Sunday

 Me and my mom woke up around 11AM (Bangkok time - which is an hour late to Manila time). Since it was Sunday, I told my mom that we should not miss Chatuchak Weekend market. I know it is supposed to be our last stop but then as far as my research is concern, they're only open every Friday through Sunday. And Sunday seems to be the last day for the weekend market.

I forced my mom that we should dropped by to Chatuchak market first (pronounced as "Jatujak" or known as JJ market for Thai's.

From Ratcha Damnoen Nok road, we rode bus #44 going to Chatuchak market. It was an airconditioned bus and fare is around 20 baht as far as I can remember.

Chatuchak market closes around 6 pm but some sellers or merchant, they bring and sell their stuff in the streets. There are vendors in the streets and you can also buy them at a discounted price since it will be the last day for that week.You can buy tops, shirts and even shoes at 100 baht only.

Since we spent hours inside Chatuchak market, we got lost and don't know how to go home, what bus number and all. There are taxi's available but we prefer riding a bus since it is much cheaper. The flag rate of the taxi is 35 baht. The last time we asked someone, she said in order for us to go back to Khaosan road from Jatujak market, we will just ride the same bus#44.

We waited for bus#44 but it won't stop in the bus station as to where we were standing. We asked several Thai's but they said it will stop there. So we waited. And since we were so tired, that we badly want to go home I decided to ask for an alternate bus# for us to be able to go home. And gladly, someone was able to assist us. She said that we can ride bus#3 but we will be dropped off at Banglumphu, which walking distance from Khaosan road.

And good thing, we were able to go back to our hostel safe and sound. It sure was a trip to remember! I will definitely go back to Chatuchak market! A shopping haven!!

Bangkok Diaries Day 1

Me and my mom were able to avail PAL's Fly All You Can in Asian Countries. Travelling period starts from August to November for 8 weeks travel time. The first country that I wanted to visit is Bangkok because of cheap thrills and of course shopping! And so, finally the moment of truth, last September 01, we had our short vacation in Bangkok, Thailand.

We arrived at the Suvarnabhumi Airport around 2PM. From the airport to Phaya Thai station, it costs 45 baht each. From Phaya Thai, we negotiated a "tuktuk" to bring us to our hostel and we got a deal of 150 baht to Chakrapong road (pronounced as Jakrapong). We stayed at Khaosan Guesthouse and Rainbow hostel; paid 1,080 baht for 3 nights (electric fan only with private bathroom and free use of locker with wifi). We walked nearby our area and we had our dinner in Mcdo, sad to say they have no rice for their chicken meals, so we ordered value meal nuggets (10pcs) at 159 baht and you have to add 10 baht if you want to upsize your drink and fries. We went back to our hostel after roaming the place and slept early to prepare for the next day's itinerary.

Waiting in vain. Ninoy Aquino International Airport is quite amazing. I love how big and how clean the airport is from the inside. They have laptop stations, free use of computers with wifi, and a mini Duty Free, shopping before boarding time.

I had Braised chicken and Pepsi. What I love about Philippine Airlines is that they serve food (lunch/dinner) for international flight and snacks for domestic flight (crackers and peanuts).

Hurray! Touchdown B-A-N-G-K-O-K! Waiting for our baggage. I think Bangkok is one of the most busiest airport in the world, jump packed with locals and foreigners from all walks of life coming from different races, speaking different languages.

Upon arrival at Bangkok, express bus weren't available at that time and since we didn't avail the airport pick up from our hostel, we decided to take the train to the city.

The Suvarnabhumi Airport map pronounced as "Suwanabhoom". They have Thailand maps given to the tourists and foreigners for free. You can ask from the Tourist information counters or at the stalls within the airport. 

State Railway of Thailand. You can also ask Thailand map from them. This is Suvarnabhumi airport station. From the airport to Phaya Thai costs 45 baht. 

In Manila, ours look like an ATM card, but theirs is different. It's circular and it has time limit. I believe it's only good for 19 minutes and after 19 minutes, it will expire.
